Also, I wrote the blog post recently about what people can do to support their local school libraries. Here's another update to that. This week I was given the link to a petition to improve and create school libraries in all public schools: "Ensure that every child in America has access to an effective school library program". The petition is posted on the White House's website - you can check it out - and plenty of other petitions that the American people are interested in.
Petitions like this are a useful way to get the word out about the struggle for libraries in public schools - the more people it reaches, the more people will support the cause.
